When I say ‘replace it with trash’ in my lyrics, I’m referring to humans who have lost their ability to become quality humans due to being beaten down by public stigma(it’s that simple really). Some of you may decide to take this song as an attack on transgenderism, it’s not, as there are those who genuinely go the hard mile to change their appearance by whatever means just like we do to upkeep beauty and youth etc or those who just want to express themselves in a way that has become socially acceptable. I accept that, they are here and are real with the same self-consciousness that come with being a human and complexity and nuances that comes with existing.

However, I do have a problem with indoctrinating kids from a young, very confusing and influential age that if they feel uncomfortable in their own body, they can get life altering surgery and injected with hormones to change into the opposite sex and normalising that, rather than encouraging self-acceptance of the body in which they were born and teaching them methods of being comfortable with discomfort which promotes resilience and strength. It’s actually normal to feel uncomfortable in one’s own body especially for those who are more genetically predisposed or environmentally prone to anxiety.

We focus so much on our external presentation rather than doing the internal work coz the internal work is difficult, elusive and not apparent straight away(and it’s in our nature to follow the compass based on external responses championing us on in whatever trajectory), making things even more fucking confusing.

Yeah of course there would be the less common cases of those born with both genitalia or those who have put in the time and fully developed consideration after careful deliberation to go ahead and transition - that’s totally cool and it is fascinating/interesting but that narrative shouldn’t be forced upon the whole. We shouldn’t feel shame for using the word ‘guys’ or being afraid of misgendering someone where it’s unclear, hence afraid to speak and just afraid of one's own standing in society. I’ve even previously been involved with groups who no longer see the word ‘girl’ as a respectful word to describe a female - even the word ‘female’!? which has absolutely baffled me and makes me think we have way too much time on our hands in our bubble to the rest of the world.

No, i’m not a right winger. There’s never any long term good in dogmatically following one extreme or the other. Balance is key to everything.

Finally, as someone who has always struggled with speech and dialogue, I do see the importance of it and am an avid believer of freedom of speech and I sure as shit hope I never lose that freedom.
